A mechatronics engineering firm built on 30+ years of production experience — from Mercury Marine propulsion systems to high-voltage automotive controls.
TekOrbital — TKO Mechatronics Innovations — was founded in 2019 to bring enterprise-grade engineering discipline to contract development work. The premise is simple: the process rigor that ships automotive and marine products at scale should be available to programs that don't carry a 200-person engineering department.
Current contract work centers on the New Eagle Raptor embedded Model-Based Development platform, hydrogen and battery-electric vehicle controls, AC/DC hybrid power distribution, rugged marine and industrial control systems, and LV/HV wiring harness development. Engagements range from a single ECU prototype to a full product development program.
When you hire TekOrbital, you work directly with the principal engineer. There is no account manager translating your requirements into a statement of work and handing it to someone junior — the person on the call is the person writing the models and releasing the harness drawings.
Jeff Brant is a management and engineering professional with more than three decades of experience developing complex mechatronic systems for the marine, automotive, industrial, aviation, and energy sectors. His career spans Mercury Marine (Brunswick), MotoTron, McElroy Manufacturing, Baker Hughes, L3 Communications, and Oklahoma Gas & Electric — leading teams from field application engineers up to a 36-person product development organization, and managing capital projects exceeding $15M.
At Mercury Marine he served as System Engineer for the Zeus & Axius platform — one of the first autonomous steer-by-wire marine propulsion systems — and was recognized with the IBEX Innovation Award in 2007. He holds US Patent 7,941,253 for a CAN network isolation and termination strategy for multi-engine marine applications, and has served on the technical committees of NMEA 2000 and the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC).
At McElroy Manufacturing he led a 36-person mechatronics team through a transformative product development initiative, introducing automotive-grade hardware and model-based software development to track fusion machine controls, and implemented a secure Product Data Management system that made engineering change traceable across the organization.
